About our collective
We are musicians that perform the most loved contemporary songs for weddings and special events. Based in Perth, Western Australia, there are less than twelve of us that perform with each other regularly. We keep our numbers small and tight-knit so that you know our level of quality is maintained. Live music is so influential in setting the tone of an event, and so we really pay attention to those elements that will set the atmosphere. Every event is unique, so we approach each in a bespoke way. We created three variants of our group – an acoustic duo, an acoustic trio, and a full party – that each capture a different tone. You can explore more about what group approach will suit you at our music page.
Your event is likely to have a wide demographic of guests, especially if it’s a wedding. From grandparents to old school friends to nieces and nephews, every one of them is going to have a different taste in music. Our repertoire of music covers all the grounds of popular songs from every decade. Your day can have that kind of range of personalities and we will still be able to cater to them. Beyond that, we will be able to read the crowd accordingly to see what songs they are really in the mood for and which ones they aren’t. If you are curious about what songs we do exactly, feel free to get in touch with us and ask for a sample song list.
Every Eclipse musician is not just an experienced performer, we have the qualifications behind us. Our musicians have trained in either jazz or contemporary music at elite international institutions, such as the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and New York University. In addition, many from our team have a creative skillset and performance experience beyond music. Some of us volunteer in charity choirs, some are educators and instrumental tutors. Others of us are also dancers and are involved in acting and musical theatre productions. In short, we have been in enough situations to know how to adapt ourselves to suit the kind of environment you want to capture for your own event.
Rachel is a guitarist and bassist for Eclipse and oversees all aspects of the Eclipse management and brand. She was trained in contemporary music as a guitarist and bass player at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), with a focus on songwriting. Prior to that, she also studied graphic design and photography and interned (and later worked) in fashion houses, a magazine, and a photo studio. As such, she has brought into Eclipse a strong eye for aesthetics. Given her professional background in design, she is passionate about combining the human connection that music brings with the allure and escapism that good design can create. She recently got married herself to her fellow Eclipse musician and best friend, Nathan. You can have a look at her wedding on her feature in Together Journal.
